Totally
enclosed motors are recomended for installation in dusty and highly moisturised
atmosphere. In this type of motor, there is no direct contact between
the internal air and the external atmosphere. Motors with different cooling
arrangements as shown below are manufactured:
- Natural cooling without any
cooling contrivance - upto 3.75 KW
- Self fan cooling by a fan and
cowl mounted at one end
of the motor.The cooling air passes over the surface which is
normally having ribbed construction giving increased cooling
area - upto 11 KW
- Force cooling by a small A.C.
motor driven cooling fan (blower) cooling the surface of the
motor - upto 30 KW
